Gold Mines, Cliff Dwellers, And A Hole In The Rock!

5:00 AM

What do you get when you combine these three? A trip to the four corners, USA! Just a few week ago we got to go on a family road trip vacation down through southern Colorado. And with all my in-law's children gown its hard to get us all together so this would be the first time my husbands family has gone on vacation since we have been married the past nine years.  And it was in general agreement that we will all have to do it again.

Dead Horse Point, Utah - part of the Grand Canyon

"Windows" part of the Arches national park in southern Utah.

Western Dinner And A Show in Moab Utah

"The Hole In The Rock"- this home was built in the side a a rock mountain in 1880

It's like the Flintstones house!

Matter was even visiting the hole in the rock as well.

Lots of interesting sculptures. I wonder how log it took them to make this!

One of my favorite things was going to the gold mine tour in southern Colorado!

We got to pan for golf first... we found copper, silver and a wee little bit of gold.

Going into the mine was really neat. It was not as scary as I thought it would be.

The mine tour was very interactive, my boys LOVED it!

We spent a full day at Mesa Verde National Park. I would have to say it was the highlight of the trip.

Pueblo Indian lived in the side of these massive cliffs from as far back as 600 A.D.

The balcony house tour is very interactive, we were able to climb and crawl around the ruins. This is my son doing a corn grinding demonstration. The scientist suspect that the main cause of death for these cliff dwellers was really bad tooth infections from eating to much sand stone with their corn.

Last but not least, we stopped in on the four corners and each took turns being in four states at once. They have these neat Indian stands all around. Fun place to pick up souvenirs.

This is a great trip to take with family of any age. I give it a major four stars! I hope that you will one day get to see some of these amazing places.
